Name: Clockwork
Age: 60 Moons
Gender: Tom
Alliance: Peace and goodwill
Rank: Your Friendly Neighborhood Loiterer
Outer Beauty: FUR// Clockwork is mainly a tabby with the classic stripes stretching over his backs and down his legs. However beneath these stripes lie both the classic gray-brown and slashes of orange. This combination is blended well enough that it doesn’t look odd and sometimes he is even viewed as a simple tabby when cats first glance his direction. He also has splotches of white in various places, including his chest and all paws. However his front paws just have the toes dipped in white whereas his back paws have socks. Clockwork also has a cloudy white coloring over his muzzle and on his throat, though it doesn’t connect to the chest splotch. Clockwork has a thick coat of fur that is coarser than one would expect. This offers good protection from any inclement weather that may bother him when he strolls out of the barn.
BUILD// Long in the legs and gangly looking, Clockwork in no way is a fighter. He has always been more of the hunter and it is no surprise with a swiftness that would be appreciated in FleetClan, but of course he wasn't born to a Clan. His paws are also quite large and allow him a good grip and easy work of grabbing down birds or squirrels. As a loner he has always put more stuck in the more useful skill of hunting, but he does know basic fighting techniques from kithood scuffles and the occasional run in with an unfriendly cat. Sure the untrained life of a loner has left some abilities and skills unused, but he has lived this long mostly comfortable so he must have some talent with using what he was given.
EYES// Light, dull green oval-shaped eyes can be found on Clockwork's face. His eyes are rather keen-sighted and sensitive to the tiniest change of light. This is the reason that he often feels as though his eyes could go at any moment. Some day the light will finally eat through them and leave his eyes cataract eaten and milky. Like his personality, Clockwork's eyes are usually open windows to his many thoughts and he has a hard time guarding any feelings. Not that he has ever wished to do so. Open and friendly describe his gaze and his heart.
DETAILS// Clockwork has large ears that are quite impressive in ability. His claws are medium in length, but hooked. Perfect for grabbing hold of prey, especially coupled with his large paws. His nose is a ruddy pink outlined with black and a decent tracker. Clockwork's face is sharp, but not in the way that his snout sticks out. Some of his features seem oddly placed on his body, but, even though he may not think so, they all work perfectly well.

Inner Beauty:
GENERAL// Clockwork is certainly not the average loner, mainly because he hates being left alone. He is extremely talkative and he will not hesitate to strike up a conversation with any cat that wanders too close. He goes back and forth between being a prying snoop to just talking to you as though you really had nothing to do with him. Some call him a crazy, old coot (though he isn’t extremely old) and others complain that he makes their ears bleed, but everyone seems to find him endearing and they say these things with a playful purr. It’s hard at times not to think the crazy part isn’t accurate, but any friend that has ever been in need of advice knows they can turn to him.
What am I like, you say? Well I’d have to go back to a story I once heard from a roving cat by the name of Toot, it’s a legend about a cat that was trying to cross a monsterwalk. This cat’s name was Wiley and he had spent nearly a year trying to get across this oversized monsterwalk—What do you mean you don’t know what a monsterwalk is…. oh, I almost forgot, I think you call it a thunderpath here? Yes, right, ok, so as I was saying.. What was it now? Oh yes Wiley, right.—Everyday he would walk over to the mo-thunderpath and look both ways trying to see into the distance if there was a monster that would strike him down and every day he would get halfway across the first walk and have to sprint back to where he had started from. Never could he get across that thunderpath, but always in his heart he trusted that one day his eyes would guide him across the thunderpath. He always had hope you see and I know that having hope is key to living a fulfilling life. You might learn from Wiley that a deep belief in yourself and your instincts will eventually take you were you want to go. Optimism is the best policy and it is the star that can guide you anywhere and everywhere.- What.. did Wiley ever make it across, you say?-- Sadly the poor bloke never did make it across, he got hit by a monster when he trusted his eyes more than his ears and paws. So don’t go crossing monsterwalks without trusting all of your senses, alright? Toot herself was a quite interesting cat, once told me I had a tongue that was twisted in the middle and free on both ends! It reminds me of an old friend actu….
ODD// Clockwork is an odd bird that could be called out of round, eccentric, kooky, off his rocker, and just plain crazy. He talks to himself, even when he isn’t alone, and often it appears as though all of his thoughts are broadcasted to the entire world. Even though he has a brilliant sense of hearing Clockwork often repeats back questions or things that others say, but it is unclear whether it’s because it helps him maul things over in his mind or if he just likes the way he says things better than how another says it. Clockwork always seems to think that some faculty of his is going to give out at any moment so he often can be found practicing life without whatever appendage or ability he thinks is going to call it quits next.
CHATTY// As you have probably already gathered by this point, Clockwork is chattier than a coked up squirrel on the week before hibernation. He is in love with life and so he gets a kick from sharing it with any cat that cares to listen and even those that don’t. If Clockwork had been born a Clan cat he probably would have skipped straight over warriorship and retired to a life of storytelling and constant chatter. Stories are his life’s work and he has an extensive collection of both real and fictional events just waiting to be told. It is often unclear whether he is telling a made up story or a real one, but in the end it really doesn’t matter, it’s the telling and the lesson that are really important. The only time one will find Clockwork silent is in his sleep (and sometimes not even then) and when he is eating. He would never be ungentlemanly enough to talk with his mouth full. Besides food is meant to be savored and enjoyed with careful consideration not gorged upon.
FATHERLY// Many cats would attest that Clockwork can be the most caring and loving cat that they have ever met. Many that have struck out alone in this world have found peace and tranquility in the supportive nature of Clockwork. He easily finds himself attached to those he meets and especially with younger cats he often places himself in the position of a father figure and mentor. Clockwork concerns himself with the lives of any cat that looks as though they need help and love. He would protect any of his charges with his life and he would expect nothing in return for his tutorship and affections.
WISE// Despite his moments of insanity, Clockwork has seen and heard quite a bit in his moons and thereby has collected enough knowledge and experience to be considered wise. Whatever mental imbalance he might possess Clockwork is sharp and quick-witted. He is also fond of dispensing onto any passing cat words of wisdom that they may or may not need. The way he sees it knowledge isn’t meant to be hoarded or guarded, it is meant to be shared and passed on so what he learns can possibly help someone else. Those seeking advice should not hesitate to ask for help from Clockwork, he is generous with his experiences and he would do anything to help a fellow feline.
ISOLOPHOBIA// Clockwork is terribly afraid of being left by himself now that he has found that he likes the company of others. He spent years travelling with only himself for company and after coming across the barn he currently occupies Clockwork has decided that he much prefers the company of others to the company of one. Clockwork can usually be found with close proximity to at least one other cat and when he is left to his own devices he can get jumpy and talk to himself with a fervor that seems a little much even for him. So if you find yourself a friend of this tom, don’t be surprised if you find yourself almost constantly in his company. He can be considered clingy and even a bit of a stalker when he is desperate for your companionship. The sounds of others are very comforting to Clockwork because of this fear.
OPEN-MINDED// After meeting cats from all over, Clockwork has become extremely unbiased and friendly to even the most foreign of cats. This liberal view of thinking has made him at ease with himself when faced with alien situations or customs. One could even find him in constant search for the friendship of cats that others might find peculiar. Often he will talk of traveling all over this territory and other faraway lands to see what there is to see; though it is common knowledge that he is perfectly content in waiting for these unique cultures to find their way to him. Clockwork is also very calm and light-hearted; nothing outside of being left by himself has really been known to bother him.
OPTIMISTIC// Clockwork has always found a way to see the brighter side of life and often he is too optimistic. He could find something good in the worst possible scenario and this often rubs pessimistic or realistic cats the wrong way. Darkness and starvation could be just as good as sunshine and butterflies to him. A smile will forever grace his face and he can laugh away any problem he has ever faced and any problem he will face in the future. Cats often criticize him for living in a fantasy world where everything always works out for the best. Pangloss would be happy to know that his belief that ‘all is for the best in this best of all possible worlds’ is carried on through Clockwork’s existence.
TRUSTING// From his optimism springs his trust in any and all creatures of the world. He would trust a starving cat to watch his fresh kill and not think twice about how that could be a problem. In this way Clockwork is extremely vulnerable to being taken advantage of and he is an easy target of manipulation. He expects that everyone is good and that society in general is noble, honest, and trustworthy as he tries to be. For such a wise cat he is surprisingly innocent and in this way naïve. This trust he puts in others can also help cats feel better about themselves and it can make them be better just to prove to the world that they can do something right.
Past:
Quickly-- Clockwork was born a kittypet and named Clockwork by his father whom had spent a long time gathering names from cats that he had liked. So his eldest son's namesake was a tom that Todd had often viewed as the perfect cat and so he figured that he could symbolize perfection with that name. Clockwork; it had a nice ring to it anyway. His mother named his two sisters Majesty and Grace. Obviously a lot of stock was placed in names in their family.
Clockwork was the only kit not sent away by his sixth moon and one day the upwalkers simply left him outside in a box. So breaking free from it Clockwork began to walk.. and walk.. and walk. It was a large portion of his life that he spent alone until he made it to the barn near groups of wildcats that called each other special names and lived and worked together. Sometimes he fancied their lives, but he couldn't bring himself to go very far from the barn that housed so many cats, in fear that he may be left by himself again. So he stayed and made friends, helped cats learn, and tried to build happiness.
Once Upon A Time-- "You've got to talk more, get friendly with them. They like knowing you have some life. Just look at your sisters, Majesty already has a home and you aren't even trying." Prize warned her only son as he stared at his paws.
Clockwork hated the thought of being anywhere but here, he loved his family. It had hurt him a great deal to see Majesty get carried away with an upwalker. Why couldn't they have all stayed together forever? His father was going to teach him to hunt just in case his upwalkers would let him out, but his mother seemed bent on teaching him to be a pet. It made sense though, she had been born a pet, but his father had been a loner before he had been caught by Prize's upwalkers. Clockwork had already been showed a few basic moves of self defense and his father had taught him a slightly awkward crouch. His mother had only coached him on how to be more loving and a better pet.
"I know mother, but I can't see why we can't live this way forever. As a family, don't they understand?" By they he had meant the upwalkers and he truly did wonder sometimes. They always had little ones running around, playing with the kittens. Whenever they were sent away they always came back. Clockwork figured the same would be true in his case. Life could be like this forever.
"Clockwork, let me tell you a secret. Listen really close now, alright?"
He nodded.
"We are playthings and upwalkers can do with us as they please. So if you aren't amusing they'll throw you in the black bin like the other stuff they get tired of."
He looked at his mother with her cynicism and nodded again, but he meant nothing by it. He was the master of his fate. Not them.
