Name:
Cricketpaw
Age:
7 Moons
Gender:
She-cat
Alliance:
FleetClan
Rank:
Apprentice
Outer Beauty:
Cricketpaw has a very stereotypical FleetClan build. Long legs with lean muscle hold up a slender frame. Her paws are the perfect shape and size, giving her an advantage for balancing. Her tail is extremely long, which she uses for balance whenever she's running across the moors. Her face is slightly narrow and her muzzle juts out a bit, mainly to keep the wind out of her eyes when running. Cricketpaw's ears are rather humorous; they're very big. They stretch tall and are rounded at the tips, similar to the ears of a serval. These ears have caused Cricketpaw to have to endure quite a bit of teasing, but she never lets cats get to her. Cricketpaw likes her ears, for she can hear so much better then most cats. One tiny nose is placed against her muzzle, while her eyes are rounded. Strangely enough, Cricketpaw has grown out of a lot of her kittish features. She already has a great build. While most cats find that odd, it gives Cricketpaw an advantage.
Cricketpaw's coloring is something spectacular. Really, she's just a little tabby cat. Brown tabby, to be exact. The base of her fur is a chocolate brown color, while black stripes run across her body in a sort of spiderweb pattern. The stripes turn into rings upon reaching her tail, and they become much thicker and more visible. Her claws are a simple, clear coloring, and are actually a bit small for a cat her age. There is a simple white dash on Cricketpaw's chest, and the only tips of her paws are white in color. Well, to be exact, her front right paw and back left paw have white flecks, and her front left paw and back right paw do not. She's mis-matched. Her nose is black with two pink spots, one on the left and one on the right. Her oddly rounded ears are actually strange in color as well. They're like two mis-matched socks. One ear is brown, while black spots are visible on it's surface. That's the right ear. Her left ear is completely black without a trace of brown. It wasn't enough to have big ears, no, Cricketpaw had to have them completely different from each other as well.
Now we move on to Cricketpaw's eyes. This is truly interesting as well, for her eyes are different, too. Her left eye is an emerald green color, with tiny white flecks dancing along its surface. The white flecks are always visible, making it seem like her left eye is sparkling in the light. Now her right is is light blue. That's it. Other then the black pupil, Cricketpaw's right eye is just a shade of sky blue. Now this is strange, because her plain eye is on the same side as her oddly-colored ear, while her oddly-colored eye is on the same color as her plain ear. That's simply another reason why Cricketpaw is just mis-matched. Her coloring makes her unique, but it also makes her stand out. Although Cricketpaw likes being different, she doesn't like being under the eyes of others.
There are no small details about Cricketpaw that I can really go over with you. Of course she has a few scars running across her sides, but then again who really doesn't? They're barely visible under her spiderweb, tabby-striped pelt, and they actually just look like oddly colored stripes. Her fangs are small and under-developed. It's like her build is that of an older cat, but her fangs and claws simply didn't grow out of their kit form. They will eventually, of course, otherwise Cricketpaw really won't turn out to be a very spectacular warrior. Her tongue? Typical, sand-paper feeling and pink coloring. I know, you expected more from this odd little cat, didn't you? Nope, that's all I have for you about Cricketpaw's description.
Inner Beauty:
One thing about Cricketpaw that really stands out is her curiousity. She's always poking her nose where it doesn't belong, whether she's eavesdropping on another cat or sticking her head in a fox hole. Cricketpaw is truly fascinated with everything. Every new scent, sight, taste, it's all an amazing experience for her. However, her curiousity is constantly causing her trouble. What was that old saying, "Curiousity killed the cat?" Well, Cricketpaw would be the definition of that, for she has nearly been killed by her curious nature. One point in time she followed the scent of a badger until she actually found the massive beast. If the patrol hadn't come by, Cricketpaw would've been crowfood. Yet she's still constantly trying to discover new things. In fact, Cricketpaw will occasionally go onto another Clan's territory, though not that far in, just to find more things to explore.
One of Cricketpaw's greatest fears is what life is like after death. Here's the thing: she doesn't believe in StarClan, or any afterlife for that matter. She thinks that you're born, you live, you die. Honestly, though, she's afraid that when she does die, she won't go anywhere. She wants more then anything to be wrong. Cricketpaw doesn't want to just rot underground for the days she's dead. The young she-cat can only believe that, though, for she was never really taught of StarClan existing. Her feelings about the afterlife are confusing, but the one thing she knows is that she's afraid. Cricketpaw is constantly wishing that she could live forever, and not have to face her life after death.
Cricketpaw's favorite thing in the world is rather common for a FleetClan cat. She absolutely loves running. Cats will see her running for no reason, across the moors in a swift brown and black flash. In fact, Cricketpaw was found by FleetClan running. Ever since she was a kit, all Cricketpaw wanted to do was just run. To her it's an escape; to just keep going as fast as possible, and to let her paws carry her wherever she wanted to go. She doesn't care when she's scaring prey away, no. All she wants to do is keep on running. Though it's not a strange hobby, most cats find it strange that she likes to run so much. They don't see why, for Cricketpaw isn't even full FleetClan. Still, this makes her a valued hunter, one that can catch a rabbit with her eyes closed.
Cricketpaw has a very short temper. Seriously, it doesn't take much to set her off. One wrong move, one wrong word, and she'll blow up on you, spewing insults with her fork-sharp tongue. Cricketpaw won't take insults from anyone, no matter if they're her best friend or worst enemy. Sometimes, though, her temper gets control of her, and she doesn't even realize what she's saying. It's rare for her to get angry, but when she does nothing holds her back. Cricketpaw will even attack another cat when she loses control. That hasn't happened yet, but most cats know not to do anything to cause Cricketpaw's short fuse to completely burn out. She's a little timebomb, ready to go off at any time.
While her paws are fast, so is her mouth. This little cat talks a lot. She'll keep going on an on without stopping, not paying attention to whether she's boring the cat she's talking to. Cricketpaw has the ability to go on and on for hours, sometimes talking about nothing at all. She tends to speak really fast and jumble her words together, confusing the cat she's talking to. Cricketpaw absolutely hates it when she's interrupted, but she doesn't usually notice it when she interrupts another. That doesn't matter to her; as long as she's speaking, she's content. Cricketpaw will even start talking to herself, or rocks, when there's no one else to talk to. No, this is not a sign of madness. She's just a lonely little apprentice, wanting at least one good friend.
Past:
When she was just a thought in her mother's mind:
Young Lightningstep knew Molly ever since he was an apprentice. You see, Lightningstep has always been curious, which is most likely where Cricketpaw gets it from. He'd tend to wander off and around, and he eventually met the young kittypet named Molly at a twolegplace. Lightningstep, then Lightningpaw, immediately decided to start a conversation with her, the thought of attacking the beautiful gray fae never once crossing his mind. The two would talk for hours about absolutely nothing at all every single time they visited. Lightningpaw came back almost every day, fascinated by the pretty young kittypet. Molly would wait on her fencetop, her bright blue eyes searching for the handsome ginger tom.
Lightningpaw became Lightningstep on his twelth moon, and he asked Molly to be his mate that day. Molly agreed, and a few days later the young kittypet found herself frightened and overjoyed at the same time. She was expecting Lightningstep's kits. Though she was happy, she wondered how her Housefolk would react. What if they got rid of the kits? Now, Molly knew that her Housefolk were kind and would never cause her kits any harm, but she didn't want them to eventually sell them. The first chance she got, Molly told Lightningstep. He was absolutely ecstatic, his dreams filled with the thoughts of visiting his kits. Molly heard her Housefolk talking about the fate of the kits, and they agreed that, depending on the litter size, they'd sell them. Molly didn't want that to happen, but before she knew it, her four kits were born.
Merle:
There were three she-cats and one tom. One was a tiny black she-cat, which Molly named Pepper. Then there were the twins, Barney and Bella. The two of them were white with ginger patches, and even their patches were in the same spot. Finally, there was the oddly-colored little Merle, who we know as Cricketpaw. Molly named Merle after her mother, because her mother was extremely unique, just like Merle's pelt patterns. All the kits stuck together, and always looked forward to Lightningstep's visits. Merle probably did the most, for personality-wise, the little kit was exactly like her father. She dreamed of living with him, in the place he called FleetClan. Molly would not allow it, though. She didn't agree with Clanlife, and their beliefs all together. Merle could only listen to her father's stories to satisfy her need.
When the kits were two moons of age, they were starting to romp around the house and even in the front yard at times. Molly always warned them, though, to stay away from the road. Usually the kits obliged, but one day Bella did not. While Merle and Pepper had a playful scuffle, and Barney was climbing the neighbor's fence to look over it, Bella had the urge to follow a squirrel onto the road. None of the kits heard a thing, until the screeching of tires caught their attention. Bella was flattened. The monster continued to roll away, while Bella lay crushed against the road. Molly was wailing so loudly that the Housefolk raced out of the house, and upon seeing the dead kitten they made a decision. You see, they wanted to raise a family one day. They couldn't help a child grow up in such a dangerous enviorment, so they decided to move. First, they'd have to sell the three remaining kittens.
Molly was devastated, and so were all of the kits. Barney wasn't the same; he was always moping and mewling pitifully at the front door. Merle felt horrible, and she was constantly wondering if that could've been her. Also, she wondered just where her little sister was. She didn't have long to dwell on that, though, for just two moons after her sister's death, the Housefolk were trying to sell them. Merle refused to let them anywhere near her, and she was constantly scratching at anyone who tried to touch her. Barney was the first to go, for he didn't even try to fight. He let them carry his numbing body out of the nest. Pepper left next, for she was energetic and a pudgy little human kit absolutely adored her. A whole moon passed, and no one wanted Merle.
Molly discussed with Lightningstep that he should take Merle to the Clans. Merle was eavesdropping on them, and she heard her father say no. He said that he was going to follow Molly to wherever the Housefolk dared take her. Molly told him that they'd be traveling many days, and the sun would set many times before she was finally at her new home, at least that was what her Housefolk had been saying. Lightningstep promised that he'd follow her anywhere. That left a dilemna. What about Merle? She was far too young to travel such distances. Merle, not wanting her parents to seperate because of her, simply left. She didn't even say a word of goodbye.
Merle wandered for days upon days, until she finally reached a place that she could call her own. The plains. As soon as she saw them, Merle started running. To most it probably looked like she was being chased, which is why the FleetClan patrol stopped her. They asked what she was running from, and she said nothing. They asked why she was running, and she just shrugged. Out of nowhere, Merle found herself telling the patrol about her life. She told them everything, from Bella, to her siblings being sold, to her mother moving, to her father planning to follow her, everything. That was how they learned that Merle was Lightningstep's kit, and that was why they allowed Merle to join the Clan as a kit, Cricketkit. Now, her life was extremely uneventful during that time, so we'll skip a moon, and move onto her apprenticeship.
Cricketpaw:
Cricketpaw was apprenticed without a mentor, for there weren't many cats who even wanted her as an apprentice. Most that were offered didn't want a kittypet to train. Cricketpaw usually snapped at most of them, but she tried her hardest not to care. After all, it was there loss. She wanted to be trained, and knew that most cats could if they'd give her a chance. None did, and Cricketpaw is slightly disappointed by that. Still, she enjoyed having a bit of freedom, without a mentor to hold her down. That was what got her into a lot of trouble, hence the badger inncident mentioned in her personality.
Today Cricketpaw is just trying to fit into her Clan. She's the cat you'll see talking up a storm to a piece of prey, or the one blowing up at a tiny kit for saying something rude. Yep, that'll be Cricketpaw. All she wants to do is prove herself, and so far she's done an okay job. Cricketpaw spends most of her time running these days. Occasionally she'll try to train herself, for having a mentor is weird and she doesn't enjoy it as much as she enjoyed working alone.
