Lyrics (c) Skillet
Falling in the black,
Death. Death followed everything. Evey moment something died and something else slipped closer to death. It was normal for the animals that walked the Earth. All except one, the Two-legs. The Two-legs had never accpeted death as part of life, just the push off toward the next part of the world. But Demonstorm had. That was because he wasn't a Two-legger. He loved the thought of death and Starclan. He was just spending his days on this Earth waiting for the day that he could join their hallowed ranks. That day he would be special and powerful, he wouldn't even look back as he ascended toward the sky.
Demonstorm would kill this day, bring death to something. This time it would only be a scrub jay, his favorite morsel of food but it was worth it. It would give him food and enough of a high that he would be happy. He padded through the forest to Starclan's Oak. This was the best place to get a jay and he would get one today. He paused at the edge of the clearing where the oak stood and inhaled deeply. He let out the breath silently and crept forward to a small patch of tall grass where he waited patiently.
Slipping through the cracks.
Now as he waited he merely speculated about how easily this kill would be. How easilyhe would end this poor bird's life and how easily he would swallow its meat. Along his way here he had buried two rodents, one for his mother and one for the clan. He would bring back all the food for the clan and just select from his own pile at the end of the day. He would place it at a special section of the main pile where he would find it easily.
Patiently he waited and slowly the time ticked by. This did nt bother the young Angora, he was a cat after all and they had extreme patience. His bi-colored eyes narrowed as a jay finally landed on a root near him and he gathered his hindquarters beneath him and...
Falling through the depths, can I ever come back.

Amberpaw yawned, stretching and stepping out of the apprentice den. The small she-cat blinked, feeling the chill of the air after just waking up. She wished that she was still as warm as she was inside of the den, but the cold was worth it today. She was an apprentice now, and her mentor was probably waiting for her. The tabby mewed happily, excited about her first day of training. She wasn't sure what to expect, her brothers hadn't been appointed as apprentices yet, so she couldn't ask them. Speaking of her brothers, it was nice to sleep in a den without them for once. Not that she didn't love them, they were family afterall; but they tossed and turned and were big enough to wake her up when they rolled onto her tail or legs.
I wonder what they're doing now... She thought for a moment, but the thought didn't entertain her for long. She had a mentor to find! Now that she was an apprentice, maybe she could go looking for him. Amberpaw wasn't sure, but she decided that his scent was strong enough for her to go looking for him on her own. He shouldn't be too far away, right? The kitten had never been into the forest, but it couldn't be as dangerous as the grownups claimed it to be. Especially when the tom that was going to teach her how thigns worked around here was so close. Maybe he would sense her before she showed up or something cool that warriors do!
Amberpaw giggled, knowing that the stories that she had heard were just stories, but only shrugged the fact away. As fake as tehy were, they were still pretty wicked. "Demonstorm?" She questioned quietly, swearing that she heard the footsteps of a cat. Her mentor's scent was close enoughto taste now, but the only thing in her line of sight were trees and bushes. This place is huuuuge... She noticed, taking in as much of the forest that she could at once. Blue eyes stared unblinking as she looked around, and then up at the blue sky that seemed so far away.
While she wasn't looking the apprentice stepped on a twig, spooking herself and whatever small animals that were near her. She let out a mewl of dissaproval, whining at the scare she had been given. With her heart pounding, she realized that she wasn't quite sure where she was anymore, but was only aware that her mentor was close. "Demonstorm?" She said louder than before, sniffling because she was lost and now feeling a bit alone. The she-cat refused to cry though. Crying would prove her a kitten, and that was the last thing that she wanted on her first day of apprenticeship.
But that thought didn't stop the fear that gripped her heart or the shiver that racked down her spine. She felt like she was being watched, a thousand eyes from a thousand different places. Still, she kept walking forward, having curved and slipped through too many different trees and paths to turn back now. Besides, Demonstorm had to be close now; at least, closer than before. In the kitten's mind, she was running out of forest that he could be hiding in.

He heard a tiny mew, calling him. Grumbling in distaste that he was so close to killing that bird but now he had to go find who was calling him. He was pretty sure it was his apprentice, Amberpaw. He sighed, what kind of apprentice would go in the forest alone when they obviously never had before. Slowly he turned and trotted back into the brush and began following her scent. He stopped just before he came upon her and then jumped outin front of her, pawing her shoulder hard enough to possibly knock her over. It was a reprimand.
"Amberpaw! What are you doing out here? Especially by yourself. There are many dangerous things in the forest and you could have gotten lost," his baritone voice was gruff with a little anger. Her narrowed his bi-colored eyes at her and growled slightly. Shaking his head he said, "Do your mother or father no your out here?"
He was glad he had found her before a fox had or a wild dog had. She was his apprentice after all and it was his responsibility to take care of her. He liked the cheerful little cat, though sometimes he needed to get away from her, just like he needed to get away from everyone else. He wasn't the best catto be around when he was depressed, and he could get awfully depressed sometimes.
(ooc: sorry its so short, been having a bad muse lately)

Amberpaw jumped, in shock when she was almost knocked over from the front. The she-cat closed her eyes and braced herself, and before she knew it she had her claws out and was ready to attack whatever had tackled her. Amberpaw opened her eyes to see just what in this forest she was about to sink her claws into, she was shocked to see it was a he and none other than Demonstorm.
The apprentice's blue eyes watered in confusion. Why had her mentor pawed her like that? Sure, she had been more frightened than hurt, but still! "B-but I wasn't lost Demonstorm!" She countered, not as loudly as she wanted to, but she was definently heard. "I was looking for you." The kitten frowned, suddenly feeling bad after her previous sense of adventure faded away.
"No they don't know I'm here, and neither do my brothers." The apprentice looked down, she had done it, hadn't she? She thought maybe because she was an apprentice now, she could be trusted to do things on her own. But in the end she was nothing but a scared little kitten that had lost her way and gotten her mentor upset and worried and... "Sorry Demonstorm. But I wasn't lost!" She confirmed again, though this time it was more to said mentor than to herself. I found you, didn't I?" She looked up blue eyes hopeing that she had done something right in her little 'adventure.' Words: 243 Muse: Eh, tired. Late posts seem to be a re-occuring theme. Comments: don't worry about the post size, this is just fine :3 My head still hurts :<
